Ninth in the “Over Malta” series is the Mellieha Bay Hotel. Opened in October 1969, the Hotel was, at the time Malta’s largest hotel with 428 beds and cost £1 million to build. Its opening heralded a new era in Malta’s post-Independence economy, a major step in promoting the island in the UK market, through Thomson Organisation Ltd.
We have stayed at the hotel for four years, 2019 being the last.
I’m glad I was able to get these shots of this grand old lady.
